Karen-Margrethe Simonsen is an Associate Professor at the School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, specializing in Comparative Literature. Her research spans early modern literature, law and literature intersections, human rights discourses, and the concept of anatomical theater as both historical and contemporary investigative art.
Key projects include leading the ANAT (Anatomical Theater) initiative (2023–2029) and co-leading HISTAC (2023–ongoing). She has served on editorial boards (Humanity journal) and as President of the CHLEL committee (2016–2019). Her collaborations extend to Copenhagen University’s Center for Legal Culture and the Hermes Consortium.
Recent publications focus on modern slavery narratives (A Comparative Literary History of Modern Slavery, 2024) and interdisciplinary explorations of anatomical theater. She organizes workshops on affect, emotion, and early modern studies, and participates in international research excursions to Madrid and Paris.
