Karen Jane Gibson

Karen Jane Gibson is a Senior Lecturer in Physiology at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW. She holds qualifications including MB BS, BMedSc, PhD, and GCULT from UNSW.

• Specializes in fetal physiology, renal physiology, and developmental programming of adult diseases like hypertension and diabetes.
• Teaching roles include Phase 1 Convenor for the BMed/MD program and course convener of PHSL3221 Endocrine, Reproductive and Developmental Physiology.
• Active in Australian Physiological Society, American Physiology Society, and Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Her research focuses on how in utero conditions influence adult diseases, particularly through renal and cardiovascular development via the renin-angiotensin system. She has received multiple teaching awards for her contributions to student learning.
