Dr. Karen Hallam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University, Australia. Her research focuses on mental health in workplace environments, bipolar disorder neurobiology, and healthcare workforce development. She is actively engaged in supervising Masters and PhD students in these areas. Key projects include studies on psychological safety in healthcare workplaces, the role of transcendental meditation in cardiometabolic health, and the impact of parental smoking on childhood obesity.
Her work bridges clinical psychology and public health, with notable contributions to understanding nonsuicidal self-injury stigma among mental health practitioners and the efficacy of workplace physical activity programs for mental wellbeing.
