Karen Colley is a Senior Lecturer at Regent's University London, specializing in Art and Design with a focus on contemporary drawing. She holds a BA (Hons) in Textiles/Fashion from Middlesex University, an MA in Fine Art: Drawing from Wimbledon School of Art, and a PGCE from the University of Greenwich. Her career includes roles as Professor and Chair of the Fashion Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design (USA), and teaching appointments at institutions such as the London College of Fashion and the University of Derby.
Her research explores contemporary drawing practices within art and design, integrating her expertise in fashion, textiles, and art education. Karen has received the Rootstein Hopkins Foundation Grant (2002) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She actively contributes to the Drawing Research Network (DRN).
Teaching responsibilities include modules on the BA (Hons) Fashion Design, Foundation Programmes, and BA (Hons) Liberal Studies (Art History). Past professional experience as a freelance knitwear designer for global clients like Henri Bendel and Nigel French informs her teaching and research.
