Karen Ann Krieger is an Associate Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Piano at Columbus State University and was an award-winning TV journalist in Columbus, Georgia, and Nashville. Her expertise spans piano performance, pedagogy, and music education.
- Education: B.M. in Piano Performance (Western Illinois University), M.M. in Piano Performance (University of Illinois).
Her research interests include piano pedagogy methodologies, composition for students, and integrating blues/rock influences into classical music. She has authored publications such as Group Piano: Proficiency in Theory and Performance (Hal Leonard, 2019) and compositions for Alfred Publishing and FJH Music. Krieger has presented globally at conferences like the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy and World Piano Pedagogy Conference, delivering workshops and clinics. Her students excel in competitions and pursue careers in music education and performance.
As a performer, she has collaborated with orchestras nationwide and toured internationally with saxophonist Neal Ramsey. Her pedagogical contributions include over 100 workshops and concerts for Yamaha and Alfred Music.
