Dr. Kara N Goldman, MD is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She serves as the Director of Fertility Preservation at Northwestern University and holds leadership positions in several professional organizations including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Oncofertility Consortium.
Dr. Goldman earned her BA cum laude from Duke University (2004) and her MD from Loyola University/Stritch School of Medicine with Honors in Bioethics (2008). She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University (2012) and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York University (2015). She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility.
Dr. Goldman's clinical work focuses on the treatment of infertility and fertility preservation for patients facing physiologic ovarian aging and those anticipating gonadotoxic therapy. Her translational research investigates mechanisms underlying ovarian aging, with particular interest in mTOR signaling pathways. Her work spans reproductive science, oncology applications, and health policy related to fertility preservation access.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on fertility preservation across diverse patient populations, including cancer survivors and transgender individuals. The research shows increasing attention to healthcare disparities and policy implications in fertility preservation, reflecting her commitment to expanding access to care for underserved communities.

Her work has been featured across major media outlets including the Today Show, Good Morning America, and National Public Radio, as well as in prestigious journals such as JAMA Oncology and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
She is dedicated to advocacy efforts through the Alliance for Fertility Preservation and has significant leadership roles in professional organizations, including past-chair of the ASRM Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group and service on the executive board of the Oncofertility Consortium.
