Kara Goss

Kara Goss, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, with a focus on pulmonary and critical care medicine. She holds dual appointments in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is Co-Chair of the Women in Pulmonary Critical Care 'Lung Ladies' Committee. Her research lab investigates long-term cardiovascular and pulmonary impacts of premature birth, particularly focusing on pulmonary hypertension and cardiac function in preterm survivors.

Dr. Goss earned her B.S. from Baylor University (summa cum laude), M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, and completed residencies at Indiana University and a pulmonary/critical care fellowship. She is certified in critical care medicine and pulmonary disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Her professional affiliations include the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and American Heart Association. She leads multiple research studies on pulmonary arterial hypertension and preterm outcomes, including the Parkland Outcomes after Prematurity Study (POPS). Her lab integrates clinical studies, imaging innovations (e.g., PET/MRI), and translational research to address cardiopulmonary challenges in preterm survivors.
