Kan Yu

Kan Yu is a PhD candidate in the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and concurrently serves as a sessional academic tutor at Edith Cowan University's School of Science. His primary research focuses on bacterial interactions in the human upper respiratory tract during infancy, with a particular emphasis on the microbiome's role in health and disease. He holds a Master's degree in Computational Biology (2021) from Edith Cowan University and has been supported by prestigious awards such as the Australian Research Training Program Scholarship and University Postgraduate Awards.

His academic and research contributions span microbiology, bioinformatics, and infectious diseases. Notably, he has explored Mycobacterium tuberculosis molecular clocks, tuberculosis drug resistance prediction tools, and bacterial interactions in the nasopharynx. His work bridges clinical and computational approaches, addressing global health challenges like antimicrobial resistance and food allergy development.
