Dr. Su Chen Lim is a microbiologist and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Biomedical Sciences, The University of Western Australia. She also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Medical and Health Sciences, Edith Cowan University. Her professional service extends to leadership roles within the Australian Society for Microbiology and institutional committees at The University of Western Australia.
Dr. Lim holds a PhD in Microbiology from The University of Western Australia (awarded July 2019), a Master of Infectious Diseases, and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, all from the same institution.
Her research focuses on the One Health aspects of Clostridium difficile with an emphasis on transmission between animals, humans and the environment. She has developed expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, molecular and genomic epidemiology, and disease transmission dynamics. Her work has contributed to successful grant applications including the WA Department of Health Research Translation Grant (~$270,000) in 2018 and an NHMRC Ideas Grant ($1.3 million) in 2021. Currently, she is working on a cross-disciplinary Ideas Grant project developing a system dynamics model for C. difficile transmission.
Dr. Lim's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on genomic epidemiology of C. difficile, with particular attention to transmission dynamics, environmental reservoirs, and pediatric infections. Her work bridges laboratory research with public health applications, contributing to our understanding of how this pathogen spreads across different settings.

Dr. Lim has served as Chief and Associate Investigator on multiple research projects. She is actively involved in scientific societies, currently serving as Treasurer of The Australian Society of Microbiology WA Branch and Treasurer of the West Coast Microbiome Network. She also contributes to the UWA Women in Science Community of Practice as a committee member.
Her professional activities include serving on various local organizing committees for scientific meetings and symposiums, including the Western Australia Microbiology Meeting and West Coast Microbiome Network Symposiums. She has also been involved with the Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society WA Branch as Co-chair and Founder (2018-2020).
