Kamran Siddiqi is a Professor in Public Health at The Hull York Medical School, University of York. He holds leadership positions including joint director of the NIHR Global Health Centre for IMPACT which focuses on strengthening research capacity in non-communicable diseases in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
His educational background includes an MBBS from University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan; MRCP from Royal College of Physicians, UK; MPH and PhD from University of Leeds, UK; and FFPH from Faculty of Public Health, UK. He is a member of the Centre for Health and Population Sciences (CHaPS).
Professor Siddiqi's research focuses on non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries with particular emphasis on tobacco control. His work involves developing and evaluating public health interventions using pragmatic randomized controlled trials and implementation science approaches. He has led significant research projects including the IMPACT Centre (2022-27), FRESHAIR4LIFE, Tobacco control policies and the health of Adolescents in Pakistan (TAP), and the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Respiratory Health RESPIRE-2 (2022-2026).
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on tobacco control policies, illicit tobacco trade, smokeless tobacco cessation, and the intersection of tobacco use with other health conditions like tuberculosis and diabetes. His work spans multiple countries in South Asia and addresses critical public health challenges through implementation research.

Professor Siddiqi serves on multiple research funding committees including as Co-chair of the NIHR Global Health Research Groups Funding Committee (2023-date). He has held leadership positions in professional organizations including Chair of the Tobacco section at the International Union against TB and Lung Diseases (2015-17) and is a Fellow of the Society for Nicotine and Tobacco Research (2020-date). He has served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of npj Primary Care Respiratory Medicine and Deputy editor of Nicotine and Tobacco Research.
