Dr. Kamran Qureshi is a Lecturer in Film Production at Southampton Solent University's Department of Film and Media, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He specializes in intersex representation in film and media, blending academic research with feature filmmaking. His work includes the groundbreaking film Only Love Matters, which explores intersex narratives and has been screened globally, winning over 30 awards. He is the founder of the Intersex Database, an open-access resource for researchers and filmmakers. His academic contributions span peer-reviewed journals, books, and conferences, focusing on intersex representation in cinema across cultures. Dr. Qureshi has taught at the University of East Anglia and Solent University, leading modules in cinematography and film production. He has been nominated for STAR Awards at Solent University and received the Public Engagement Award from UEA. His interdisciplinary projects bridge academia, film, and activism, emphasizing social impact and cultural dialogue.

Research Interests: Intersex representation in global cinema, practice-based research methodologies, film production ethics, and media's role in social justice. He has collaborated with Springer Nature, Palgrave Macmillan, and international organizations like the European Commission’s INIA Network. His upcoming book Fiction Feature Filmmaking as Practice-Based Research explores the intersection of filmmaking and scholarly inquiry.
