Francois Miron is a Part-time Faculty member in Film Production at Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, where he has taught optical printing, filmmaking, and technical film processes since 1993. He holds an MFA in Filmmaking (1990) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, awarded under a full merit scholarship.
His research centers on experimental film techniques, particularly optical printing, alongside documentary production and cinematography. Miron's creative works include feature films (The 4th Life, 2007) and award-winning documentaries (e.g., the Paul Sharits film).
He has received significant recognition, including:
- Juno Award (2008) for photographic work with Arcade Fire
- Prix à la création artistique (2008) for Hymn to Pan
- FILAF Top Award for his Paul Sharits documentary
- Best Experimental Film at XV Festival of Film and Video Artists (1990)
