Kamini Singha is a University Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs for Earth and Society Programs at the Colorado School of Mines. She holds affiliations with the Hydrologic Science & Engineering Program and departments of Geology & Geological Engineering, Geophysics, and Civil & Environmental Engineering.
Her research focuses on ecohydrology and geophysical approaches to understanding subsurface processes. Key areas include: watershed hydrology, groundwater-surface water interactions, critical zone science, and impacts of land cover change on hydrological systems. Her work employs field instrumentation, geophysical imaging, and modeling to study water movement through landscapes.
Recent article trends show strong focus on: mountain hydrology processes including snow-groundwater interactions; impacts of vegetation change like woody encroachment on subsurface hydrology; contaminant transport (especially PFAS) through heterogeneous soils; and advanced geophysical methods for monitoring ecohydrological systems. Her work consistently integrates physical processes with biogeochemical cycling.
