Dr. Kamila Valenta is an Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Business at Belmont Abbey College. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Emory University, an MA in International Studies from Florida International University, and a BA in Economics from Florida Atlantic University. Her research focuses on war and peace, terrorism, ethnic minority issues, democratization, and religious conflict reconciliation. Dr. Valenta emphasizes student engagement in classroom discussions and contributes to public discourse through articles on peace and democracy for the Catholic News Herald.
Her professional expertise includes teaching and research in political science with a particular emphasis on global peace initiatives. She actively incorporates contemporary issues into her coursework, reflecting her commitment to fostering critical thinking among students.
Outside academia, Dr. Valenta is dedicated to her family, raising four children. Her guiding philosophy, inspired by St. John Paul II, underscores the importance of pursuing peace: “Do not be afraid to take a chance on peace, to teach peace… Peace will be the last word of History.”
