Kamila Stullerova is a Senior Lecturer in International Politics at Aberystwyth University, affiliated with the Department of International Politics since 2009 and a permanent member of staff since 2013. Her academic work spans Political Theory, International Relations, and Security Studies, with a focus on normative and ethical dimensions of global politics.
Research Interests: Her research lies at the intersection of International Relations Theory, Political Theory, and Security Studies. She focuses on the emergence of normative knowledge from social practices and the role of political values in pacifying conflict and overcoming emergency politics. Her methodological approach draws on the history of ideas, specializing in 20th-century European and American political thought. Key thinkers in her work include Judith N. Shklar, Hannah Arendt, Hans Morgenthau, Stanley Hoffmann, and Raymond Aron. She explores themes such as cruelty, liberalism, human rights, and realism, often analyzing how ethical considerations shape international political theory.
Recent Research Trends: Her recent publications reveal a consistent engagement with the moral and philosophical foundations of international politics. She has written extensively on Judith Shklar’s political theory, particularly the centrality of cruelty, as well as on realism, ethical theory in international relations, and the intellectual legacies of key 20th-century thinkers.
