Kalumi Ayala is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Pharmacy Practice Department at Nova Southeastern University’s Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy, Puerto Rico Regional Campus. She specializes in HIV/AIDS clinical pharmacy services, serving as an HIV/AIDS Clinical Pharmacist at Centro Ararat and contributing to the Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center. Her work focuses on drug interactions, ART-related adverse effects, and natural products use in HIV management.
Education: Pharm.D. from Nova Southeastern University (2005), followed by a Primary Care Pharmacy Practice Residency at Florida Hospital-Celebration Health (2006). She holds certifications in Traditional Chinese Medicine (University of Beijing, 2010) and is credentialed as a Certified HIV Pharmacist since 2012.
Research interests include evaluating natural products’ impact on antiretroviral therapy adherence and pharmacokinetics, and assessing the efficacy of HIV-focused clinical pharmacy services in Puerto Rico. Her 15+ years of experience involve multidisciplinary care for HIV/AIDS patients, emphasizing medication adherence and interaction management within Hispanic communities.
Awards include AAHIVP and TTS credentials, reflecting her expertise in advanced HIV healthcare. Her contributions span teaching, clinical service, and research, addressing critical gaps in HIV patient care.
