Elizabeth Sherman, Pharm.D., AAHIVP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Nova Southeastern University's Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. She concurrently serves as an HIV Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for the Memorial Healthcare System Division of Infectious Disease. At NSU, she coordinates the Integrated Disease Management course in infectious diseases, lectures on antiviral pharmacotherapy, and precepts advanced pharmacy practice experience students during six-week HIV rotations.
Dr. Sherman completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at Nova Southeastern University, followed by a pharmacy practice residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and a specialty residency in HIV/AIDS at the University of California San Francisco. She holds credentialing as an HIV Pharmacist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Her research focuses on optimizing HIV/AIDS treatment through improved antiretroviral medication adherence and expanding pharmacy services in primary care settings. Specific interests include implementation of long-acting injectables, treatment resistance patterns, health policy for equitable access, and pharmacist-led interventions in HIV care. Her work consistently addresses both clinical and public health dimensions of the HIV epidemic.
Recent research demonstrates strong focus on novel antiretroviral therapies (particularly long-acting injectables like cabotegravir and lenacapavir), HIV treatment optimization in special populations, implementation science for pharmacy-based services, and health policy development. Her publications frequently examine real-world effectiveness, resistance mechanisms, and innovative care delivery models spanning clinical, operational, and policy domains.
