Kali Thomas is a Professor and the Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Professor in Aging and Community Health at Johns Hopkins University, serving as Associate Director of Health Services Research in the Center for Equity in Aging.
Dr. Thomas holds a PhD, MA, and BA in gerontology and public health disciplines.
Her research centers on improving quality of life for older adults requiring long-term services and supports (LTSS), spanning organizational, delivery, and financing models across care settings. Key focus areas include dementia, disaster preparedness, loneliness, social determinants of health, and transitions of care, with specialized emphasis on military/veteran populations and health equity.
Her work is funded by major federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, National Institute on Aging, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, alongside foundation support.
Dr. Thomas leads health services research initiatives through the Center for Equity in Aging, utilizing mixed-methods approaches including big data analytics, qualitative research, and quantitative statistics to address critical gaps in aging services.
