Kakaras Emmanuel

Kakaras Emmanuel is a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), specializing in Thermal Engineering. He has been affiliated with NTUA since 1991, progressing from Lecturer to his current role as Director of the Laboratory of Steam Boilers and Thermal Plants and Professor.

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering (NTUA/Technische Universität Braunschweig, 1989)
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NTUA, 1984)

His research focuses on enhancing efficiency in conventional power plants, novel solid fuel technologies (IGCC-PFBC), CO2 separation/capture, biomass utilization, and radiation heat transfer in combustion chambers. He has supervised over 25 postgraduate researchers in his laboratory.

Scientific awards include the 1988 EEC Sectoral Grandee, NTUA Postgraduate Scholarship (1985-1989), and Onassis Foundation Scholarship (1985-1987). He teaches undergraduate courses on thermal energy conversion and postgraduate courses on thermal power plants and pollution abatement technology.
