K. Scott Baker, MD, MS is a Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, holding dual appointments in the Clinical Research Division and Public Health Sciences Division. He is also a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington and serves as an Attending Physician at Seattle Children's Hospital.
Research Focus: Dr. Baker specializes in the short- and long-term health effects of blood stem cell transplants, with landmark studies on late-developing complications in childhood cancer survivors, including cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, and reproductive system impacts. His work includes clinical trials for non-malignant immune deficiencies and leadership in the multi-institutional Childhood Cancer Survivor Study.
Clinical Trials: He leads trials such as HSCT for Fanconi Anemia, TRANSPIRE: Lung Injury in Pediatric HSCT Patients, and studies on poverty exposures in transplant patients. His research informs survivorship care guidelines and long-term follow-up protocols.
