K. Marshall Green is an Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at The University of Delaware. Their interdisciplinary work focuses on Black sexual and gender agency, health, creativity, and resilience within contexts of state and social violence. Combining scholarship, art, and activism, they employ Black feminist theory, visual culture, and trans studies to analyze self-representation and political mobilization in Black queer communities.
Education: Ph.D. in American Studies and Ethnicity with Gender Studies and Visual Anthropology specializations from the University of Southern California. Former postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University’s Sexuality Studies and African American Studies programs.
- Publications: Works in GLQ, South Atlantic Quarterly, Black Camera, and TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly.
- Current Projects: Memoir A Body Made Home: They Black Trans Love (The Feminist Press).
- Activism: Founding member of Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100), serving on the Healing and Safety Council.
Teaching and research emphasize Afro-Futurist frameworks, creative methodologies, and community-driven scholarship.
