Dr. Dylan McCarthy Blackston is an Assistant Professor in Gender & Sexuality Studies at New Mexico State University (NMSU). His work bridges trans studies, feminist theory, and critical animal studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Arizona and teaches courses on gendered ecologies, trans visual cultures, and feminist methodologies.

Research focuses on trans ecologies, queer theory intersections with animal studies, and socio-cultural definitions of life. His recent work includes co-editing The Transgender Studies Reader Remix (2022) and editing TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly.
Publications span trans theory, biopolitical gestation, and species boundaries. His current book project Trans Relations examines how capital shapes definitions of life through case studies of dolphins, apes, and pigs.
