Prof. Jürgen Volkert is a Professor of Economics at Pforzheim University, specializing in poverty research, developmental economics, ethics, and sustainable development. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Tübingen and a bachelor’s in business administration from Berufsakademie Stuttgart. His research focuses on applying Amartya Sen’s capability approach to societal challenges, including poverty measurement, corporate responsibility, and refugee integration. He has led major projects like GeNECA (BMBF-funded) and studies on refugees' labor market integration. He has received teaching awards (2008, 2013) and contributed to policy reports for German ministries. His work bridges theoretical analysis with empirical methods, addressing global development, corporate ethics, and social sustainability.
