Jürgen Vogeley

Jürgen Vogeley is a Professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), leading the Department of Building Materials and Products since 1997. Previously, he held roles at the Institute for Structural Engineering, including appointment as a professor in 1992. His career spans academic research, architectural practice, and conservation of historical structures.

Education: Studied architecture at TH Braunschweig and the University of Karlsruhe (now KIT), earning a Diploma in Urban Planning (1972) and a doctorate in 1981 on Gothic roof construction in Freiburg Cathedral. Professional Experience: From 1980, operated an architectural office specializing in historical building safety, refurbishment, and competitions. He led subproject A5 (1994–) on interdisciplinary urban housing studies and conducted research under the BMFT (1991–1992).

Research focuses on historical construction techniques, building materials, and urban planning. His work bridges academic research and practical conservation efforts, with expertise in structural engineering and heritage preservation.
