Prof. Dr. Jürgen Macha (deceased January 26, 2014) was a Professor in the German Department at the University of Münster and a member of the Cluster of Excellence 'Religion and Politics' since 2009. He led Project C19, 'Between Religion and Politics: Confessionalization of Language in the Early Modern Period?'
His research examined the historical development of German language during the 17th and 19th centuries, including chancellery documents, court records, witch trial protocols, and emigrant language patterns. He also studied the interplay between dialect, humor, and religious-political influences on linguistic evolution.
