Jörn Mallok

Prof. Dr. Jörn Mallok serves as Professor of Business Management and Production Management at the Faculty of Sustainable Business, Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development (HNEE), where he has held academic positions since 2002. His leadership roles include Dean of the Faculty of Sustainable Business (2009-2013) and Pro-Dean of the Business Faculty (2005-2009), alongside founding the Transfer Program in Business Management (B.A.).

His educational foundation includes a Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from East Berlin (1986-1990) and a Dr.rer.pol. from Humboldt University Berlin (1992-1995), preceded by vocational training as an agricultural machinery mechanic (1984-1986) and research traineeships at TU Berlin.

Mallok's research centers on productivity dynamics in SMEs, particularly within East German metal industries, with growing emphasis on sustainable digitalization and green production. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical case studies examining crisis resilience, technological convergence, and sustainable operational strategies in regional industrial contexts.

Analysis of his publication trajectory reveals evolving focus from foundational East German industrial bottlenecks (1990s) toward contemporary sustainable production systems, with recent projects emphasizing eco-efficient manufacturing and digital transformation in resource-constrained SME environments.

His accolades include the Barnim District Medal of Merit (2023), UNICUM Foundation's Professor of the Year in Business Sciences (2013), and the State Teaching Award (2013), alongside recognition as Sportsman of the Year in Barnim (2011).

Mallok has secured €2.91 million in competitive funding, leading EU Interreg projects like "Innovationscampus" (€0.6M) and "University Meets Business" (€0.4M), while directing the Mittelstand Digital Center Spreeland's "Green Production" initiative (€0.97M). His initiatives include founding Germany's first student cooperative (2004) and the Business and Science Cooperative (2011).

As Scientific Director of the Metal Network Barnim since 2002, he maintains active industry-academia partnerships through the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Cottbus, driving sustainable innovation in regional manufacturing ecosystems.
