Dr. Jörg Thomä is a scientific staff member at the Institute for SME Research (ifh Göttingen) under the University of Göttingen. His work focuses on innovation dynamics, entrepreneurship, and regional economics within small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and craft industries. He actively explores the intersection of vocational training, digitalization, and sustainable economic development.
- Education: Studied economics in Dresden, Rotterdam, and Göttingen; received PhD in 2012 from the University of Göttingen.
Research Interests: Jörg Thomä investigates the Doing-Using-Interacting (DUI) mode of innovation, emphasizing how SMEs in structurally weak regions adapt to challenges like climate goals, skilled labor shortages, and digital transformation. His work spans personality-driven entrepreneurship, task allocation in manufacturing, and integrative innovation policies for rural areas.
