Eisele is a Professor of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Tübingen, where they have been serving since April 2013. Previously, they held a professorship at the University of Konstanz from January 2004. From October 2018 to 2022, Eisele served as Dean of Studies for the Faculty of Law. They are Editor-in-Chief of the 'Journal for Criminal Law' (ZStW) since January 2013 and maintain an active office at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz with current contact information.
Eisele's research spans German criminal law and procedural law, European criminal law, white-collar crime, and computer/media criminal law. Their expertise includes sexual offenses, bribery crimes, data protection criminal law, and internet criminal law. Notable research projects include 'Strafrechtliche Grenzen der Arbeitnehmerüberwachung' (2010/2011) on employee monitoring compliance and 'Der Sanktionsdurchgriff im Unternehmensverbund' (2010-2012) on corporate group sanctions. They've established the German-Ibero-American Criminal Law Group through collaborations with universities in Tenerife and Bogotá.
Recent publications demonstrate Eisele's engagement with contemporary legal challenges, particularly in digital criminal law. Their work examines deepfake pornography liability, sexual violence in educational settings, cyberstalking regulations, and European passenger data directives. The 2023-2025 publications show consistent focus on evolving areas like digital privacy, consent frameworks in sexual offenses, and constitutional challenges to court reporting restrictions.
Eisele has held significant professional roles including membership on the Federal Ministry of Justice's sexual criminal law reform committee, editorial positions for major legal journals, and leadership in the German branch of the Association Internationale de Droit Pénal (AIDP). They also serve on ethics committees at the Medical Faculty of the University of Tübingen and contribute to expert hearings before the German Bundestag's Legal Committee.
Born in September 1969 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Eisele completed their doctorate in 1998 with 'Haftungsfreistellung von Vereinsmitgliedern' and habilitation in 2004 with 'Die Regelbeispielsmethode im Strafrecht.' Their academic journey reflects deep specialization in criminal law theory with practical applications to modern legal challenges.
