Research Interests
Professor Buehner’s work centres on how humans learn, represent, and use causal knowledge. His investigations span:
- Temporal binding: the bidirectional influence between perceived causality and the subjective experience of time.
- Causal learning and inference: how covariation, contiguity, and prior knowledge drive causal judgments.
- Decision making: applications of causal and temporal cognition to everyday behaviour, consumer choice, and dishonesty.
- Developmental and comparative perspectives: age-related changes in causal cognition and cross-species parallels.
