Jérôme Pelisse is a Professor in Sociology at Sciences Po, where he serves as Director of Doctoral Studies in Sociology (since 2023). As a member of the Center for the Sociology of Organizations (CSO), his research bridges sociology of work, law, and organizations, focusing on legal endogenization in institutions and labor relations. He holds a Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) from Sciences Po Paris (2014) and earned his doctorate at the University of Marne la Vallée (2004).
- Doctorate in Sociology (2004), University of Marne la Vallée
- Habilitation to Direct Research in Sociology (2014), Sciences Po Paris
His work examines legal intermediaries in non-professional roles—such as unions, labor inspectors, and environmental advocates—to study how law penetrates daily work practices and reshapes economic activities. Current research projects include analyzing the impact of France's 2017 labor law reforms on workplace health policies and legal consciousness in India.
Recent publications focus on judicial evidence, occupational health, and legal hegemony, with a trend toward interdisciplinary analysis of labor law, regulatory compliance, and social movements. Pelisse has received the Social Sciences Foundation Award (2018) for his contributions.
