Ms Justine McKnight is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University's School of Arts and Humanities, specializing in the intersection of fashion and visual arts. She holds a Master of Visual Art from ECU and focuses on sculptural, couture garments that explore memory, history, and cultural material exchange through textile processes. Her work includes collaborations with Munich-based artist Helen Britton, notably the COLLIDE project supported by a 2018 Creative Development Grant. McKnight has exhibited internationally, with works in major galleries like the National Gallery of Australia and Art Gallery of Western Australia. Awards include the 2018 School of Arts and Humanities Staff Award for her teaching and creative contributions.
Her research emphasizes material transformation and narrative through textile practices, often involving deconstructing and reworking materials to reimagine cultural histories. Key projects include the WA-Hyogo Banshu Fashion Textiles Program (2014–2016) and a 2018 New Colombo Mobility Grant study tour in Guangzhou, China, which advanced ECU's fashion program internationalization.
