Justin V. Strauss is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College, specializing in sedimentary geology, tectonics, and historical geobiology. His research reconstructs Earth's history through field-based studies and multidisciplinary approaches.
- B.A. from Colorado College
- M.S. and Ph.D. from Harvard University
His work integrates sedimentology, stratigraphy, and isotope geochemistry to explore tectonic and climatic changes, with a focus on historical geobiology and global tectonics. He collaborates across disciplines to address key questions in Earth's evolution.
Recent publications highlight advancements in paleomagnetic analysis, carbonate sedimentation, and Neoproterozoic oxygenation. His research spans the geological history of the Laurentian margin and planetary analogs for Martian geology.
He leads the Sedimentary Geology, Tectonics, and Historical Geobiology Group at Dartmouth, mentoring a dynamic team of graduate and undergraduate students.
