Justin Sorensen is an Associate Professor of Art at Mount Vernon Nazarene University's School of Arts and Humanities. He holds an MFA in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design (2013) and a BFA in Studio Art from Kutztown University (2009). His professional experience includes roles at Williston State College, Luther College, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
Research interests focus on visual arts, printmaking, drawing, and the intersection of contemporary art practices with religious themes. He has exhibited widely, including at the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts (Russia), Akron Soul Train, and the Wesley Theological Seminary. Notable works include Rotating Tires (2021) and How to Live with Stones (2018).
Awards include a Research Fellowship from Calvin University's Nagel Institute and the Award of Distinction in Drawing from UNC Asheville. His work explores material experimentation, spatial installations, and cross-cultural artistic dialogues.
