Dr. Justin Major is an Assistant Professor in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University, leading research in engineering education through the Experiential Engineering Education (ExEED) initiative. His work advances pedagogical innovation while addressing systemic inequities affecting socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Engineering Education (Purdue, 2022), M.S. in Aeronautics & Astronautics (Purdue, 2021), and dual B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Secondary Education Mathematics (Nevada, Reno, 2017). Research centers on trauma-informed education, belonging interventions, and critical analyses of socioeconomic barriers in STEM.
Publications consistently explore non-cognitive factors in student success, innovative quantitative methodologies, and equity-focused interventions. Recent work examines chosen family support systems and skill development in engineering teams.
Honors include multiple NSF-funded projects examining low-income student experiences, an Engineering Unleashed Fellowship, and the ASEE Best Diversity Paper award. Current grants investigate food insecurity interventions and family support networks in engineering education through 2027.
