Justin Cammy is a Professor of Jewish Studies and Comparative Literature at Smith College, where he also serves as Associate Dean of the Faculty and Dean for Academic Development. He is a Visiting Professor of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University (Fall 2025). His primary research and teaching focus on Yiddish studies, modern Jewish literatures, and Jewish political and cultural history.

Cammy's research spans Yiddish literary history, Holocaust documentation, and Jewish cultural preservation. He has received prestigious fellowships from institutions such as the Frankel Institute for Advanced Judaic Studies, Yiddish Book Center, and Yad Vashem. His edited works include the critical edition of Abraham Sutzkever's memoir From the Vilna Ghetto to Nuremberg, which won the MLA Leviant Prize.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in Yiddish poetry, interwar Jewish culture, and Holocaust testimonies. Cammy is currently co-editing The Cambridge History of Yiddish Literature (2027). Awards include the Honored Professor Award (2023) and the Sherrerd Prize for Distinguished Teaching. He has held visiting professorships at Harvard, UCLA, and Hebrew University.
