Jussi Antero Alho serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Psychology, University of Helsinki, focusing on the psychosocial determinants of health with particular emphasis on adolescent populations and neural mechanisms.
His research spans Psychology, Neurosciences, Mental Health, Adolescent Psychology, Social Networks, and Neurology and Psychiatry. He investigates how mental disorders propagate through peer networks and impact educational outcomes, while also exploring fundamental cognitive processes in visual information processing using neuroscientific methods.
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate consistent thematic focus on mental health transmission dynamics in social contexts, published in high-impact journals including JAMA Psychiatry and European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The work integrates epidemiological network analysis with clinical psychology to quantify spillover effects of mental disorders.
Alho actively participates in the Academy of Finland-funded project "Mental health disorders in social networks" (2023-2027), examining transmission pathways of mental disorders within social structures under Project Director Christian Hakulinen.
