معرفی
Juri Etto serves as Coordinator of the LUX Lapland User Experience Design research group within the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland. His work bridges design innovation with emerging technologies, focusing on human-centered solutions for complex real-world challenges.
Research spans four interconnected domains:
- Immersive Technologies: Pioneering VR/XR applications for sustainability (green transition, plastics recycling) and cultural contexts (museums, theatre)
- Wearable Interaction: Developing tangible interfaces like the 'Aware Eye' provotype for environmental sensing
- Human-Robot Systems: Investigating acceptance factors in robot dog interactions through focus groups
- Safety-Critical Interfaces: Designing gestural communication systems for automotive safety applications
Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal a strong trajectory toward applying experiential design methods to environmental sustainability challenges, while expanding into embodied interaction paradigms across cultural, domestic, and transportation contexts. Key methodologies include user studies, motion capture, and playful prototyping.
As an active collaborator in the ProtoXR project (2024-2025), Etto contributes to advancing XR prototyping frameworks through European Regional Development Fund support. His work demonstrates consistent interdisciplinary integration of design theory, technological innovation, and user experience validation.
