Junwoo Kim

Junwoo Kim is a Part-Time Lecturer at the UWA Medical School within The University of Western Australia, specializing in multi-disciplinary research. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and focuses on sarcoidosis immunopathogenesis, with expertise in microbiome interactions, metabolomics, and advanced imaging techniques.

Research Interests:

• Investigating host-microbiome dynamics in sarcoidosis
• Development of cellular/tissue imaging methods for granuloma analysis
• Regenerative medicine applications in cardiac and pulmonary sarcoidosis

Current Projects: Leading a study on Immunopathogenesis of Sarcoidosis: Animal and Human Studies to uncover disease mechanisms. Published two influential review articles in American Journal of Physiology: Cell Physiology (2023-2024).

Collaborations span biochemistry, cardiology, and anatomical pathology. Active in promoting multidisciplinary approaches to inflammatory disease research.
