Jungeun Lee is a Researcher in the Cell Toxicology Department at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. She has been affiliated with UFZ since August 2018, focusing on the development of high-throughput methods for neurotoxicity testing and their application to assess environmental pollutants.
- Education:
- B.Sc. in Chemistry from Hanyang University
- M.Sc. in Environmental Health from Seoul National University (thesis on thyroid-disrupting benzophenones using in vitro assays and zebrafish models)
- Research Interests:
Her work spans neurotoxicity, environmental health, and molecular toxicology, with a focus on high-throughput screening and in vitro models. She contributes to projects like MibiTox (2020–present) and MLinvitroTox, a machine learning tool for toxicity prioritization.
- Collaborations:
Part of the Cell Toxicology team led by Prof. Dr. Beate Escher, she collaborates with institutions such as Eawag, ETH Zurich, and the University of Zurich under the Swiss National Science Foundation-funded project on safe-by-design chemicals (2024–2025).
