Dr. June Quek is a Casual Academic in Physiotherapy (PHTY) and Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on postural control, cervical spine mechanics, and the application of technology (e.g., Microsoft Kinect, Android apps) in clinical assessment for older adults with musculoskeletal disorders. She holds a PhD from the same institution (2018), titled Exploring technology for clinical applications and analysis of factors associated with postural control in older adults with idiopathic neck pain.
Her work emphasizes reliability and validity of novel measurement tools, such as the Wii Balance Board and mobile applications, to assess postural stability and spinal mobility. Key areas of interest include geriatric rehabilitation, neuromuscular control, and biomechanical analysis of musculoskeletal conditions in aging populations. Publications span journals like Gait & Posture, International Journal of Rehabilitation Research, and Manual Therapy.
Quek’s research integrates engineering and clinical perspectives, addressing gaps in technology-driven interventions for musculoskeletal health. She has collaborated with institutions like the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences on projects involving cervical range-of-motion asymmetry and thoracic kyphosis impacts on mobility.
