Jun Zang's recent work emphasizes nonlinear wave loading, gap resonance in floating structures, and machine learning applications for predictive modeling of offshore systems. Her team develops open-source tools like SeaSwallowsTool for simulating violent wave interactions with wind turbine foundations and coastal defenses. She actively supervises doctoral students and leads projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and EU Commission.
Notable projects include:
- SEASWALLOWS (2021-2025): Extreme storm wave loads on offshore wind turbines
- CCP-WSI+ (2020-2026): Collaborative computational frameworks for wave-structure interactions
