Jun Wu, PhD, is a Professor and Researcher at the University of Michigan's Medical School, holding dual appointments as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Molecular and Integrative Physiology. She leads the Wu Lab at the Life Sciences Institute and contributes to the Cellular & Molecular Biology Program, Program in Biomedical Sciences, and Center for Cell Plasticity and Organ Design.
- BSc, Biology - University of Science & Technology of China (2001)
- PhD, Biological Chemistry - University of Michigan (2007)
- Postdoctoral Fellow/Instructor - Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School (2011)
Dr. Wu's research explores immunometabolism and nonneuronal cholinergic signaling in adipose tissues, with a focus on CHRNA2 receptor mechanisms in energy metabolism. Current projects investigate beige fat activation, adipose-immune interactions, and alcohol-induced liver disease pathways.
Recent publications reveal her lab's expertise in thermogenic fat biology and metabolic reprogramming. Key techniques include 3D cell culture systems and cholinergic signaling analysis.
Dr. Wu's institutional affiliations include:
- Caswell Diabetes Institute
- Center for Cell Plasticity and Organ Design
- Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center
She maintains active mentorship roles and secures NIH funding through grants R01DK107583 and R01AA028761 for metabolic research.
