Jun Qin, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. He also holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position in the Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, and is a Member of the Molecular Oncology Program at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, he serves as the Bonnie and Eunice Collins Endowed Chair for Innovative Diabetes Research at the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic, and is a Staff Member in the Department of Molecular Cardiology there.
Dr. Qin's research focuses on understanding the molecular basis of protein-protein interactions in cell signaling and their roles in human diseases. His work centers on integrins—cell surface receptors critical for cell adhesion, morphology, and motility. Using structural biology techniques like NMR spectroscopy and crystallography, he explores integrin-mediated protein interaction networks, linking findings to diseases such as thrombosis and cardiac failure. His contributions have advanced atomic-level insights into integrin signaling mechanisms.
Dr. Qin collaborates with cell biologists and clinical scientists to bridge basic research with clinical applications. His endowed chair highlights his leadership in diabetes research, and his affiliations with both Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic underscore his interdisciplinary reach.
