Julián García Comendador

Dr. Julián García Comendador is a Tenured Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where he also serves as Deputy Director of the Observatory of Natural Risks and Emergencies of the Balearic Islands (RiscBal) and a Consolidated Researcher at LaboRA (Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory). He holds a PhD in Geography (2021) and has conducted international research stays at the Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology (LIST). His academic career includes over 1,000 hours of university teaching across multiple disciplines.

Research Interests: Focuses on fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, sediment dynamics, and natural hazards. Specializes in sediment tracing using spectrometric techniques and radioisotope analysis. Has published 23 peer-reviewed articles (20 in JCR-indexed journals), 3 book chapters, and contributed to over 50 conference presentations.

Professional Activities: Member of 12 national/EU research projects. Active in environmental risk assessment and early warning systems for Mediterranean regions. Collaborates with the Medhycon research team, addressing ecogeomorphology, hydrology, and vulnerability assessment.
