Juliet Floyd is the Borden Parker Bowne Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Boston University Center for the Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a B.A. from Wellesley College. Her research focuses on Wittgenstein’s philosophy of logic/mathematics, early analytic philosophy, philosophy of emerging media, and AI ethics. She has held visiting professorships at the Universities of Vienna, Paris, and Bordeaux. Notable grants include the Mellon Sawyer Seminar (2016-2019) and a Lichtenberg Kolleg Fellowship. Awards include ACLS and Fulbright fellowships.

Her Mellon Sawyer work explored computational technologies’ societal impacts. Key publications include her 2021 Wittgenstein’s Philosophy of Mathematics and co-edited volumes on Turing and media philosophy. She lectures globally, addressing topics like Cambridge Analytica’s algorithmic manipulation (2022).
