Julie Ynes Ada Tchoukou is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law (Common Law Section), University of Ottawa. She also serves as the Allan Rock Visiting Professor (2023–2024) and was previously a Shirley Greenberg Fellow (2021–2023).
- Education: LLM in International Human Rights Law (University of Cape Town), LLM in Comparative Law (McGill University), PhD (University of Ottawa).
Her research focuses on international human rights law, comparative law, law and gender, and critical race theory. She explores how legal systems perpetuate racial and gender inequalities, with a particular emphasis on anti-Black racism, harmful traditional practices, and the intersection of culture and law.
Notable Contributions: She teaches courses such as Race, Gender, and Legal Culture and Equal Justice Advocacy, fostering inclusive learning environments to address systemic barriers. Her work has influenced discussions on racial justice in Canadian legal doctrine and education.
