معرفی
Julie Trotter is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UWA Oceans Institute, University of Western Australia. She has held research positions including ARC Future Fellowships and has led international oceanographic expeditions to Australian submarine canyons. Her work focuses on using geochemical proxies in marine carbonates and phosphates to study environmental changes over geological timescales, with applications to climate change and ocean acidification.
Education: Julie holds a BSc and MSc from Macquarie University and a PhD from The Australian National University (ANU).
Research Interests: Her interdisciplinary research integrates geochemistry, oceanography, and biology to decode seawater chemistry and environmental shifts. Key areas include coral calcification mechanisms, submarine canyon ecosystems, and high-resolution geochemical analyses of phosphatic microfossils. She collaborates internationally on projects in the Indian, Southern Oceans, and Mediterranean Sea.
Awards & Grants:
- ARC Future Fellowship (2016): $776,000
- Schmidt Ocean Institute Grant (2018): $3.85M
- AINSE Research Award (2020): $12,900
Advising & Facilities: Julie co-established a state-of-the-art geochemistry facility at UWA and has supervised multiple research projects. She mentors students and researchers on advanced techniques like laser ablation ICP-MS and SHRIMP.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Schmidt Ocean Institute, leading expeditions aboard RV Falkor. Active in the Oceans Graduate School, contributing to cross-disciplinary initiatives.
