معرفی
Dr. Julie Seibt is a Senior Lecturer in Sleep and Plasticity at the University of Surrey's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Surrey Sleep Research Centre (SSRC). Her research focuses on understanding how sleep supports brain functions, particularly synaptic plasticity and dendritic activity during development. She holds a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Her work combines electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, and molecular techniques to study sleep's role in cognition.
Education:
- PhD in Developmental Neurobiology, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (2005)
- MS in Neuroscience, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (2001)
- Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience, Aix-Marseille Provence University
Research Interests: Synaptic plasticity during sleep, dendritic calcium activity linked to sleep oscillations (e.g., spindles), mechanisms of memory consolidation, and the impact of environmental enrichment on sleep-dependent processes. Collaborations include work with Dr. Alex Bayés at the Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute, Spain.
Teaching: Coordinates modules on 'Neuroscience from Molecules to Mind' and teaches 'Neuroscience from Neurons to Behaviour.'
Advising & Labs: Supervises postdoctoral fellow Martin Smith and PhD student Farahnaz Yazdanpanah Faragheh. Her lab explores sleep's role in neural circuitry using rodent models and advanced imaging techniques.
