Professor Julie Makani is an Associate Professor at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion) and holds a visiting role as Provost Visiting Professor at Imperial College London’s Faculty of Medicine. She specializes in sickle cell disease (SCD), focusing on genomics, public health interventions, and curative therapies. Her work integrates clinical research with global health advocacy, aiming to improve outcomes in Africa.
