Lakshmanan Krishnamurti

Dr. Lakshmanan Krishnamurti is a Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology/Oncology) and Chief of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant at Yale School of Medicine. He leads the Smilow Cancer Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program. Previously, he was a professor at Emory University and director of Emory’s bone marrow transplantation program. He holds an MBBS from the University of Poona, completed residencies in India and the University of Minnesota, and has dual board certifications in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.

Research: Focuses on curative therapies for sickle cell disease, including gene editing and stem cell transplantation. Leads NIH-funded studies (NHLBI R34, PCORI) on transplant efficacy and hydroxyurea adherence. Collaborates on machine learning tools for transplant outcome predictions. Research interests include hemoglobinopathies, healthcare systems innovation, and global outreach.
